Kowa Spotting Scope TSN88S Prominar incl. TE-11WZ II WA Oculair

The Kowa Spotting Scope TSN-88S Prominar is the improved successor to the Kowa TSN-884 which has been a leading model in the field of spotting scopes since 2006. Kowa has provided the lenses and prism of the TSN-88S with new and improved coatings. With this, Kowa succeeded in obtaining an even higher light transmission. Than its predecessor and also provides the most natural colours across the entire colour spectrum.

In addition, the TSN-88S Prominar now benefits from 100% magnesium alloy, making it not only stronger but also lighter than its predecessor. The TSN-88S is easy to carry and has a fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled housing. An upgraded Kowa KR coating on the optics makes the scope incredibly reliable and robust.

Just like the TSN-884, the body is equipped with a large 88mm pure fluorite crystal lens which, in combination with a Kowa XD lens, delivers superior low-light performance. This special combination, plus the improved optical coatings, virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, even at high magnifications. Equipped with a dual focus mechanism, the TSN-88S allows fast and accurate focusing with just your index finger - in just a few smooth turns. The fine focus mechanism provides the final control for razor-sharp viewing.

Kowa TSN-88S with TE-11WZ II WA eyepiece

This kit comes with the Kowa TE-11WZ II wide-angle eyepiece. This eyepiece has a magnification of 25x-60x and features two XD lenses, so the images are displayed with excellent sharpness. The eyepiece is fully waterproof and equipped with a Twist-up eyepiece ring with three positions. This allows you to adjust the distance between your eye and the eyepiece. In this way, both spectacle wearers and users that do not wear glasses have a pleasant viewing experience.

Fluorite Crystal "Prominar" Lens

Chromatic aberration occurs due to the diffusion of light and the different wavelengths of light that concentrate at different positions, which can result in a red or purple border around the subject. The optimal optical material to minimize chromatic aberration is Fluorite Crystal. For the convex lens of the TSN-88A/88S, a Fluorite Crystal with extremely low dispersion characteristics is used. Instead of an ordinary optical glass lens, the hollow lens in combination with the Fluorite Crystal lens is made of glass with special dispersive properties to further reduce chromatic aberration. This combination virtually eliminates chromatic aberration and redefines the standards for color brilliance.

Fluorite crystal is only used in the top models of Kowa.

• The fluorite used as an optical lens is an artificially grown monocrystal with "ultra-low dispersion", a property that ordinary optical glass does not have.   To release the eyepiece smoothly, the release button has been redesigned. This makes it even easier to quickly change the eyepiece or adapter without compromising a secure connection to the body.

  Thanks to a 100% magnesium alloy body, the TSN-88 Prominar series is one of the most compact and lightweight spotting scopes of its size. A fully waterproof and nitrogen-sealed housing plus Kowa KR coating on the optics makes the spotting scope reliably robust.
  Another great advantage of magnesium alloy is that there is no turbulence in the body. The light rays pass straight through the body and the image is incredibly quiet.

  There is a 95mm filter thread on the body of the TSN-88S, which can be used to add a protective or UV filter for enhanced protection.

Eyepieces

An eyepiece should not be missing when purchasing a Spotting Scope. Without an eyepiece you can't see anything. Below is an overview of the eyepieces that fit the TSN-88S with the corresponding specifications:

Astro Adapters

With the use of a Kowa Astronomy adapter, the TSN-88S can also be used for night-time celestial observation and photography. For this purpose a universal 1.25" astro eyepiece can be used.

Digiscoping Adapter

If no adapter for your smartphone is available, please inform us about this. In many cases it is no problem for Kowa to develop an adapter for your smartphone.

Protective equipment

To protect your valuable Kowa TSN-88S, you can choose to complete it with the accessories listed below:

• Kowa TSN-CV88 Eyepiece protector
  This eyepiece protector prevents scratching of the eyepiece lens or its coating due to unfavourable conditions or transport. By using an eyepiece protector, costly repairs can be prevented.
• Kowa TP-95FT Protective filter
  Using a protective filter for the lens reduces the risk of damage to the lens and avoids costly repairs. This can extend the life of the spotting scope. The Kowa TP-95FT protective filter has oil and water repellent coatings and ensures that sand and sea salt do not get on the lens. This keeps the objective lens with the special coatings undamaged.

Damage to the objective lens can drastically reduce optical performance, which also causes costly repairs. Precisely because the TSN-88S is equipped with a lens made of pure fluorite crystal. Often, the only option left is to completely replace the entire lens. That is why using protection is advisable.
