Microscopes are used to view and study objects that are to small to examine with the naked eye. In addition to the examination of various materials, microscopes are often used for medical, biological and forensic research.
There are two types of microscopes available: Biological (study) Microscopes and Stereo Microscopes. Biological microscopes are generally used to study objects such as microorganisms, cells and tissues, with transmitted light and have a magnification between 10x and 1000x. In contrast, stereo microscopes are often used for the examination of objects such as insects, gemstones, fossils, minerals and electronics, with incident light and have a magnification between 10x and 100x.
